DIPLOMA in MEDITATION TEACHING

THE 200 HOUR DIPLOMA CONSISTS OF SIX PARTS

  1. Meditation and the Mind

  2. Meditation Teaching Skills and Professional Studies

  3. Elective study

  4. Practice teaching

  5. Mentoring

  6. Participation in 8 weeks of related activity (eg Yoga, TaiChi, QiGong, Sacred Dance, Martial art) (online or face-to-face)

What the course involves

  • Meditation and the Mind:   the science, history, and practice of meditation ( 8 weeks). Includes personal reflection and daily practice. 60 hours

  • Meditation Teaching Skills and Professional Studies: Teaching methodology, theory, and practice for a variety of settings, ethical and inclusive business practices (8 weeks). includes assignments and daily practice. 60 hours

  • An Elective: explore psychological philosophical and practical underpinnings of meditation and mindfulness in specific contexts. 20 hours

  • Present a 6-week course: Practice teaching a 6-week course. (Don’t panic, you will be well equipped to do this once you have completed parts one and two of the course).  20 hours 

  • Participate in the mentoring program: individual and group supervision and mentoring program throughout the course. 10 hours     

  • Attending classes in a related field: Yoga, Tai Chi, Qi Gong or Martial Arts class for at least 8 weeks. 10 hours           

  • Self-study /reading /research. 20 hours 

  • TOTAL 200 Hours

Personal Requirements

To undertake the Meditation Teaching program, you must:

  • have 12 months of personal meditation practice

  • and be willing to engage fully in the program

Course Requirements

  • Attend 80% zoom or face to face sessions

  • Commit to daily meditation practice 

  • Submit assessment tasks as required            

  • Complete and submit a reflective journal           

  • Complete elective study and assessment in an area of interest

  • Write and teach a 6-week course - under supervision with notes and recordings

  • Attend a Yoga, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Martial Art class at least 8 weeks

  • Be available for one-on-one check-in mentoring and supervision sessions during the course

  •  Submit records of attendance, daily practice, research           

  •  All tasks must be completed by end of the course date.   


Payment Options & Rates

DIPLOMA in MEDITATION TEACHING $1,900

MTTC’s Diploma in Meditation Teaching Course can be paid for in full or in parts, and includes the following:

  • Meditation and the Mind Certificate $540

  • Meditation Teaching Skills and Professional Studies Certificate $1200

  • Electives $250

CANCELLATION POLICY

When you pay upfront in any course or part of the course, cancellation is possible up to 5 days before the start of the course with a refund minus a $200 admin fee ($50 for electives).

Deferments are possible and will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.

Electives can be taken as part of the Diploma in Meditation Teaching - 20hours (15 contact hours + assignments), or on their own*

*Electives on their own do not qualify for the Meditation Teaching Certificate. Some electives have prerequisites.

Mentorship and ongoing support during the course

The Diploma in Meditation Teaching provides 10 one-hour sessions during the course, as well as course group supervision.

It is your responsibility to schedule your sessions with your mentor.
